About Us

Abbey's Hope Charitable Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Edina-based organization.

Our mission is protecting families around water. Abbey's Hope was founded in 2008 by Scott and Katey Taylor to honor the legacy and stated wish of their daughter Abbey. In June of 2007, 6-year old Abigail Taylor suffered a horrific injury while swimming in a local, public pool. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries in 2008, two months before her 7th birthday. Abbey’s hope was that no child should ever suffer like she did as the result of an improperly maintained pool. In her memory Abbey’s Hope Charitable Foundation was established. Today, we are national leaders in drowning prevention and every day we advocate for and support the many important layers of water safety, including: swimming lessons and water competency; lifeguards and supervision; safety barriers; rescue and CPR; and critical legislation.
